To assist the Town of Wake Forest in the promotion of Baseball.

The GWFABC was formed in August 2002 by a small group of men with a goal to improve baseball in the Wake Forest area and a passion to make it happen. GWFABC has since become incorporated and operates as a non-for-profit organization with tax-exempt status. Funding is implemented through membership, field display sign sales and other fundraising methods.

The assets of the Corporation are managed by the Board of Directors. That Board is currently composed of eight directors and includes the office of the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and legal advisor. The remaining three directors lead committees for Communications, Facilities and Fundraising.

Since it's founding, the Commission has focused on physical improvements at the three ball fields of Flaherty Park. Three batting cages were built and two floored with concrete; two scoreboards obtained and erected; outfield fences were capped; press boxes painted; bullpens setup; dugouts painted and floored with concrete; some landscaping done; and a field maintenance program including irrigation, application of fertilizers, pesticides or other chemicals as well as mowing has been developed with the Town.

The annual meeting is scheduled in September at the District Courthouse in Wake Forest. The meeting will include the transitioning of the Board as well as reviewing the objectives for the forthcoming year followed by a question & answer period. It also kicks off the membership drive and community awareness campaign.
